A message from Alex:

Hi there and thanks for checking out my website! I am an 18 year old British / Aussie actor, singer, film maker, composer and designer (anything creative really) and have been working semi-professionally as an actor /singer for the last 8 years or so. I have been fortunate enough to be involved in some pretty amazing productions including playing 'Michael Banks' in the Sydney season of 'Mary Poppins' at the Capitol Theatre, 'Under Milk Wood' with the Sydney Theatre Company, 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof' with the Belvoir Street Theatre Company, 'Intersection' with ATYP, 3 seasons with Opera Australia and 3 seasons of pantomime at the King Street Theatre, Newtown, along with a number of film and television appearances. I am also a classically trained baritone singer (AMusA Dist.) and give regular vocal recitals around Sydney where I am currently based, although I am hoping to work overseas in the future. Hope you enjoy my website!

5th August - Speech and Drama!

Another crazy week of Eisteddfods - this time the speech and drama sections at Ryde. I competed in 5 sections and won 4 first places (11 years test poem, 11 years verse, 12s / under prose and primary mime) and one third place (12s / under humorous verse). I LOVE ACTING! 5 more sections still to go over the next few weeks.

26th July - Eisteddfod success!

Last weekend I took part in the singing sections of the 2012 Ryde Eisteddfod. There was some tough competition but I came away with 2 first and 3 second prizes, as well as a highly commended, for the 6 sections I entered. My first prizes were for the 11-13 years classical sacred solo and the 12s / under amplified vocal solo. The seconds were for the 11-13 years folk song, the 11-14 years character song and the 12s / under classical vocal solo. Now I need to rest my voice ready for the speech and drama sections next week. Eisteddfods are a great way to get performance experience and it's how I started out, so why not give it a go? Bye for now, Alex xxx.

9th July - Holidays and hard work!

Last Saturday was the final performance of "Under Milk Wood" - everyone was a little bit sad after such an amazing season but it has been the best experience and one I will never forget! Now I have lots of work to do preparing for Eisteddods, attending workshops and getting ready for auditions. I had to do an English accent at the last workshop I did, which was easy because that's how I talk anyway, so I was cheating really! It's funny having a regular life again for a while, but my parents are glad not to have to drive me to work nearly every night. Not long until I learn to drive myself (well....5 years) ;-)

22nd June - Schools out!

It's the end of term - yay! Actually I really like school, so that's not quite true - I'll miss all my performing arts lessons and even some of the others - not the homework though!

"Under Milk Wood" has been going really well and with only 2 more weeks left to run, it's all gone so fast. It's hard because nearly everyone in the cast has been sick with a sore throat (me yesterday!) but we've kept going and the show has had some great reviews. I'm going to miss all the cast soooo much when we finish - they have all been so nice and so much fun. They make me laugh every night and I hope I get to work with all of them again one day in the future! Off to bed now - I have an audition tomorrow and a matinee of Under Milk Wood. Time to get some Zzzzzzzs...

29th May - Under Milk Wood opens!

After a week of previews, (I performed in two), it was Opening Night for "Under Milk Wood" last Saturday! I was so excited and because Ky was performing, I got to sit in the audience and watch, which was very interesting because I don't normally get to do that. The show was amazing and afterwards we all went to a party which was lots of fun. Last night I had my own opening show which went really well too! I am so lucky to have the opportunity to perform at the Sydney Opera House and to work with all these amazing actors and I am loving it! Jack Thompson is awesome as first voice and all the other cast members are so friendly and helpful and my chaperones really look after me too. I am having the best time......if only I didn't still have to do my homework ;)

13th May - What a busy week!

I'm just having a bit of down time after a completely crazy week! Three rehearsals for "Under Milk Wood" down at the Theatre Co. and three performances of "Treasure Island" at school, where I was Long John Silver so I had quite a lot to say (no change there then - he he!). This week, "Under Milk Wood" bumps into the Opera House which is very exciting! There are lots of posters up all round town so you are bound to see one - I saw one at a bus stop the other day. How funny to see your name on a bus stop! Previews start next week (22nd) so make sure you get your tickets - I am performing on the Tues and Thurs nights - can't wait!

29th April - Eisteddfod Competition

Took part in the Northern Beaches Eisteddfod classical singing comp today and came away with 2 first prizes - yay! I sang a number of songs including "Panis Angelicus", "The Last Rose of Summer" and "This is the moment". My favourite performance was as Javert from "Les Miserables" singing "Stars". Good to keep my singing ticking along!

24th April - Back at the STC

Started full rehearsals for "Under Milk Wood" today - lots of blocking, lines to learn and songs too! Having so much fun and everyone I am working with is so nice!
