A message from Alex:

Hi there and thanks for checking out my website! I am a 16 year old British / Aussie actor, singer, film maker, composer and designer (anything creative really) and have been working professionally as an actor for the last 6 years or so. I have been fortunate enough to be involved in some pretty amazing productions including playing 'Michael Banks' in the Sydney season of 'Mary Poppins' at the Capitol Theatre, 'Under Milk Wood' with the Sydney Theatre Company at the Opera House, 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof' with the Belvoir Street Theatre Company, 3 seasons with Opera Australia and 3 seasons of pantomime at the King Street Theatre, Newtown, along with a number of film and television appearances. I am also a classically trained baritone singer and give regular vocal recitals around Sydney where I am currently based, although I am also hoping to work in the UK and US in the future. Hope you enjoy my website!

8th Feb - NSW Young Achievers Awards

Wow! Just found out that I have been selected as a semi-finalist in the NSW and ACT Young Achiever Awards for 2016 (in the 'Arts and Fashion' category)! Nominees must be 29 and under so I'm really amazed to be selected when I'm only 15.

Now I go through for possible selection as finalist so we'll see what happens but it's great just to have got this far. Exciting news to start the year!

5th Feb - Happy New Year

OK - so it was a while ago now but Happy New Year anyway! I'm back at school now, which is actually great as I do 2 hours of acting classes nearly every day. I'm also studying acting at ATYP (Australian Theatre for Young People) on Saturdays and singing with Divas on Demand who are a fabulous group of classically trained vocalists of all ages who sing anything from opera to Gilbert and Sullivan to jazz and everything in between!

I'm also trying to see as many plays as possible (Bell Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet is next!) and I'm still busy writing scripts and composing dance music. Major news though is that I'm off to England at the end of June for a couple of weeks! Can't wait - I have a list of things I want to do like going to the Globe Theatre and seeing 'The Play That Goes Wrong' (my dream acting job!). Just need some work now to pay for it all....

Hope you have a great 2016. Alex X

4th December - Doctor Who and panto fun!

Wow - so much happening right now! Rehearsals for Mother Goose are in full swing (see poster to the right) and school is nearly over for another year. I was extremely honoured to win another academic excellence award at presentation night and come top in several subjects. I also recently achieved an A (honours) for my AMEB grade 8 singing - now that was a tough one but I made it - yay!

A definite highlight of last month was the Doctor Who exhibition in Sydney where I got to meet 12th doctor Peter Capaldi and 7th doctor Sylvestor McCoy and find out a little about what goes into making this amazing show. I WILL play the Doctor one day - I have the crazy hair for a start! Hope you like this pic of me with a Dalek.

Off to see Hamlet with Bell Shakespeare tonight and watching the brilliant Divas on Demand on Saturday (and hoping to join them one day!). Love theatre, love opera, love LOVE DOCTOR WHO!

20th August - plays and videos

Went to see the Bell Shakespeare prodcution of The Tempest last night. Just awesome - loved it, loved it, loved it! Really hope I get the opportunity to work with Bell Shakespeare one day.

Working hard at school right now - lots of assignments and showcase coming up, but here are some videos of my Sydney Eisteddfod comp winners - hope you like them. Love character acting!

Master of the House (Les Mis)

When I was a lad  (HMS Pinafore)

Lord Foppington (The Relapse)

23rd July - holidays over!

Back at school now after a successful holidays, where I won a couple more first places at Sydney Eisteddfod for the monologue in character 15yrs (as Lord Foppington from the Relapse - see pic below) and in the Gilbert and Sullivan song 16/under section (as Sir Joseph Porter from HMS Pinafore) as well as several seconds and thirds. Then at Ryde Eisteddfod I was very proud to be awarded 2 firsts in singing for the character and folk songs. I don't always win (sometimes I don't even place at all!) but these competitions are a great way to get experience and feedback from professionals and they keep me practising when I don't have any work (like now!). Hope you like the pics.

A topical film....

Congratulations America on making same-sex marriage a constitutional right! Here is a link to a must-see and very topical short film I was in a few years back made by the amazing Brendon McDonall. Even the kids get the message...

THE LAW

3rd June - long time no see!

I've just realised how long it is since I last posted so sorry about that but I've just been really busy. Mostly with school work, but I also recently took my AMEB grade 6 drama and performance exam and got an A+, which was great! Yesterday I also won first place in the Sydney Eisteddfod Shakespeare Event for 14-16 years, with an amazing 100/100 score, which was fantastic but a real surprise too as there were lots of other really talented competitors. Here is a picture of me with my medal.
