A message from Alex:
Hello everyone and welcome to my awesome new website! I'm so excited to be able to keep you up to date with all my news and I hope you find it interesting! I have been performing for several years now as an actor, singer and dancer, and I have been fortunate enough to be involved in some pretty amazing productions. I started out with Opera Australia in "A Midsummer Night's Dream", then last year spent 9 months as "Michael Banks" in the Sydney production of "Mary Poppins". Since then I have back to the opera in "Turandot" and have recently been given the fantastic opportunity to work with the Sydney Theatre Company in their upcoming production of Dylan Thomas' "Under Milk Wood", starring Jack Thompson and Sandy Gore. Set in the fictional Welsh village of Llagreggub (spell it backwards!), it tells the story of a day in the life of the eccentric villagers who are all a little bit crazy - just like me really! Please click on the links below for more information and I look forward to seeing you at the Sydney Opera House drama theatre very soon!
I'm just having a bit of down time after a completely crazy week! Three rehearsals for "Under Milk Wood" down at the Theatre Co. and three performances of "Treasure Island" at school, where I was Long John Silver so I had quite a lot to say (no change there then - he he!). This week, "Under Milk Wood" bumps into the Opera House which is very exciting! There are lots of posters up all round town so you are bound to see one - I saw one at a bus stop the other day. How funny to see your name on a bus stop! Previews start next week (22nd) so make sure you get your tickets - I am performing on the Tues and Thurs nights - can't wait!
Took part in the Northern Beaches Eisteddfod classical singing comp today and came away with 2 first prizes - yay! I sang a number of songs including "Panis Angelicus", "The Last Rose of Summer" and "This is the moment". My favourite performance was as Javert from "Les Miserables" singing "Stars". Good to keep my singing ticking along!
Started full rehearsals for "Under Milk Wood" today - lots of blocking, lines to learn and songs too! Having so much fun and everyone I am working with is so nice!
Wow - started rehearsals for Dylan Thomas' "Under Milk Wood" today! Met all the amazing cast and we read through the play together for the first time. There are 8 shows a week, so I am sharing my roles (I am playing lots of different characters!) with Ky Baldwin, so we'll each be doing 4 shows / week. Ky is 11 too and is really cool (he was in Love Never Dies). Can't wait to get back to work again next week!
